Start Early and Retire Rich

The things I wish I knew when I was young. I was having a conversation with my little brother. I was telling him, you could be a millionaire by the age of thirty. He did not believe me and brushed me off.

I am here to tell you that if you start young you could have millions of dollars at an early age. You need to first get your priorities straight. Then you need to avoid some mistakes. Read on to learn mine:

Going on trips.

I cannot believe the amount of money I spent going to places like Vegas. We had to pay for the hotel room, gas, and parking. This is not even including the things to do throughout the day. That includes going to a show, eating out, buying drinks, and gambling.

Buying annual passes.

An annual pass not only has its up front cost. It also has costs after the fact. You eat, buy drinks, and buy stuff there. It has higher costs than most of us realize.

Going out drinking.

Everyone should know that drinking is expensive, but it is even more expensive to drink at bars. A beer these days will cost about ten dollars. Most people will have two to three. This doesn’t even include food.

Eating out.

There really isn’t cheap food to buy at restaurants. You are going to pay about fifteen to twenty dollars for meals. These meals quickly add up the more you go out to eat. That amount could easily be one hundred dollars by the end of the week.

Buying merchandise.

We all like to get something everytime we travel or go somewhere new. The problem is we buy it and later it goes in our closet or storage. This is such a waste when you think of all the things you do not use.

These are some of my mistakes. I am pretty sure I spent close to $100,000. I could only imagine where I would be if I would have invested this money.

You can still go out and have fun. Please just be smarter with your money. Take advantage of being young. Your expenses are small. Unfortunately, they will go up.

My little brother lives at home with our parents. He does not have the expenses I do. I am married and have a baby. I do not have as much disposable income as him.

You need to start young and take action. You will regret not taking advantage of your situation when you are older. Do not look back like me regretting what you spent.
