The importance of personal finance cannot be overlooked. A lot of us unfortunately never really learned about personal finance. We did, however, pick up some bad habits from people around us. Those habits could be overspending, relying too much on credit, or never saving a dollar. The unfortunate part is habits are hard to break. A lot of us don’t even know we have bad habits.
The great part is we could work on forming better habits and educating ourselves. There is so much information on personal finance, and a lot of this information is free. We just need to be willing to look for it. Yes, it is a little bit of hard work at the beginning. However, once you start working on your finances you will find that it is not too bad. It even starts to be a lot of fun when you see your net worth grow.
That is a great place to start. You should see what your net worth is now. Bring out a sheet of paper or create a spreadsheet and list all your cash and debts. Take the amount of cash and subtract it by your debts. The number remaining is your net worth. This number will be your starting point. You should track it monthly to see how you are doing.
